SPX 2013

While SCC was unable to snag a table of its own this year, that didn't stop a number of our members from getting space!  It was a hell of a show this year, especially with the expanded space.

 Jade and Desmond shared a table debuting Weapon Girls and 3:16.

RM Rhodes and Sarah showed off their wares including Starseed and Who Watches the Watcher?

And Shawn hung out with fellow DC locals the DC Conspiracy promoting his titles and spreading the word about his Kickstarter for Mechanaflux.

Post-show, some of us got together for dinner to hang out and share what we picked up.  Desmond brought along some of the friends he'd made at the show.  Good times were had by all!

Speaking of what we grabbed, here's my haul!  I'm always blown away by the talent and variety of comics that comes out for this show.  To me, one of the greatest feelings in the world is the energy that comes from a mutual love of comics and the crafting thereof.  Thanks for another great year, SPX.  See you next year!

Tabling for the First Time

Convention season is well underway at our first one of the year is just over two months away!  That means we've got our noses to the grindstones finishing up books, promo materials, and so on in time for the show!
As you may already know, SCC debuted two of it's titles at SPX 2011.  It was the first convention any of  us had tabled at and boy, was it a blast (and one hell of a learning experience)!

With that in mind, here are a few podcasts and articles I like to use to gear up before a show and decide how I want to approach the who she-bang!

Absolute Con-Sense
Ok, this one isn't a freebie like the rest of the list.  It's a workshop from Lean Into Art featuring Tyler James  hosted by Jerzy Drozd.  I have had the pleasure of meeting both of them in person and this workshop has provided some of the best advice surrounding tabling.  Worth your time if you have the money to spare!
